Chiang Mai is the largest northern city and most naturally kept tourist destination in Thailand, keeping most of their old northern traditions. Located 700 km north of the capital at Bangkok, Chiang Mai is visited by around 1,000,000 tourists consistently every year.
Getting to Chiang Mai
There are two ways of arriving on Chiang Mai with the most popular way being by air with direct flights available domestically from Bangkok and Phuket. International flights arrive directly from Taipei, Mae Hong Song and Luang Prabang. The main airline’s flying to Chiang Mai are Bangkok Airways and Thai Air.
Secondly, you can arrive by car or bus. If you drive yourself you can arrive in 6-7 hours whereas the bus takes longer.

Chiang Mai Weather Seasons
The weather in Chiang Mai is consistently pleasant most of the year round with the low season around October and November receiving most of the rainfall. Chiang Mai is a lot cooler and less humid the rest of Thailand with the average temperature being around 27 degrees.
